Social Enterprise Academy Offers Coaching and Cash Prizes for “Third Sector” Organizations - Applications Due Now
The Academies for Social Entrepreneurship and UCLA’s Department of Economics in the Division of Social Sciences are pleased to announce a new Social Enterprise Academy, featuring the talents of UCLA’s students, faculty and alumni. The Academy supports not-for- profit organizations in developing business ventures that expand their impact and income.
Ten organizations will be selected. An eight-session workshop series will help participants select the best enterprise idea, conduct market research AND create a business plan. Students (who will be getting academic credit for the work they perform) will be paired with each organization to assist in the venture development process.
Each organization will also be matched with experienced private sector entrepreneurs who will coach them in preparing for the business plan competition. This “Showcase” event will take place in late May and early June with cash and pro bono prizes of over $30,000.
If your organization would like to participate, please submit a completed application by Monday, November 16th, using the downloadable pdf file on this website. Selected participants will be notified by December 11th. The program starts in mid-January and completes in early June.
