Our panel of Business Experts will offer their sage advice and wisdom to four social enterprises, each representing a distinct sector of the social enterprise space.

Stick around after the panel discussion for a Reception hosted by the REDF Young Professionals Network from 8:00-9:00 pm! This will be a great opportunity to continue the conversation and network with individuals passionate about social enterprise. Beverages will be provided. David Greco brings more than 25 years of experience in driving the growth of social sector organizations working for a more just and equitable world.  David has successfully scaled programs, developed new products and services, expanded into new markets and business lines, and launched new revenue generating operations within nonprofit organizations.

Most recently, David served as Interim President & CEO for Northern California Grantmakers and led their efforts to launch a new strategic direction and business model.  He is the author of "Nonprofit Financial Management" featured in "Nonprofit Management 101: A Complete and Practical Guide for Leaders and Professionals" edited by Darian Heyman. 

Social Sector Partners is a consulting firm that works to transform organizations working to achieve social impact through strategic adaptation, business model repositioning, and scaling programs.

Sylia is currently leading the 16-member board of directors through a strategic planning process to establish the organization's mission, vision, grantmaking priorities, next generation leadership, and to position the organization as a nimble, catalytic, and strategic sector-level partner with community stakeholders.

Sylia serves on the board of Southern California Grantmakers, and on the advisory boards of Grantmakers for Effective Organizations, REDF, and the LA chapter of Advisors in Philanthropy.  Sylia is actively involved in local philanthropic initiatives with the goal of breaking down silos and creating opportunities for efficiency and effectiveness throughout the nonprofit sector. She is a certified governance trainer with BoardSource and volunteers her time as a coach and mentor for nonprofit organizations.


SEAPierce.jpgMATTHEW PIERCE - Co-founder and CEO of O Labs

O Labs incubates and operates early-stage portfolio companies that attempt to address the needs of large enterprises. Pierce is a regular contributor to Southern California's Silicon Beach and the Los Angeles startup community.

Matthew is a Lecturer at the UCLA Anderson School of Management and a Visiting Scholar in UCLA’s Economics Department where he teaches Entrepreneurship.

Matthew is also a game designer, serving as founder and Chief Creative Officer of Robot Dinosaur Games. He created the game Scenarium and co-founded Versus, a real-money video game tournament platform backed by O Labs.

Becki specializes in nonprofit, social enterprise, and estate planning law.  She has worked with many clients to form and convert their entities to Benefit Corporations, a new legal structure that focuses on purpose-driven enterprise. Critical to her client approach is her ability to empathize with and tailor counsel to each client’s immediate needs, while helping them to find sustainable long-term and big-picture solutions.



FILMANTHROPOS  - Jasmine Youssefzadeh

filmanthropos is a creative agency that specializes in storytelling and engagement campaigns, with a mission to scale impact through new media. We are a company of creative conspirators who tell stories, build community, and teach. We collide media, design, and technology through cultural movements that bring brands and ideas to life.

We work with a diverse clientele ranging from Fortune 500 companies to small local shops and have enabled brands to authentically connect with and engage their audiences through digital storytelling. Some of our clients have included UNICEF, Keep A Breast Foundation, LA2050 & The Goldhirsh Foundation, Burton Snowboard's The Chill Foundation, Green Dot Public Schools, The Natural Resources & Defense Council, The Boys & Girls Clubs, and The Children's Bureau of Southern California. In an effort alleviate expenses for non-profits, we dedicate 50% of our efforts towards pro-bono and discounted services for non-profit organizations through Produce-A-thon events, a marathon model of storytelling and video production. As of 2015, filmanthropos has donated 2,500+ hours and $300,000+ worth of pro-bono services nationwide.

LIFT-LA - Michelle Rhone-Collins - Founding Executive Director

LIFT is a national non-profit organization that provides critical services and support to people (Members) living below the poverty line. Members working with a LIFT advocate to build the foundation that they need to gain and sustain financial, social and personal well-being.  LIFT’s approach upholds that a caring and dignified response is a revolution that can change lives and communities.
Michelle is responsible for developing the overall strategic direction necessary to increase and sustain LIFT’s growth in Los Angeles. She leads the cultivation of key partnerships, builds infrastructure, provides programmatic oversight and stewards donor relationships in concert with LIFT-LA’s Program Team, Development Team, and the Regional Advisory Board of Directors. LIFT-LA is exploring options for creating earned income streams to support their non-profit.


SOCIAL PRODUCTS - Justin Garrido - Co-Founder

Social Products sources organic food products from Philippine cooperative partners that empower rural farmers, women, and indigenous peoples with a more sustainable way to eradicate poverty. We connect social enterprises with conscious foodies who want healthy, tasty, and superior quality products that are ethically sourced. My cousin Kris (with a 'K') and myself Justin, are the team behind Social Products. As 2nd generation Filipino Americans, we wanted to do what we can here in the U.S. to help address poverty in the Philippines, a beautiful country and people, but where over ⅓ of the population is in poverty (that’s over 30 million people!). 



Teens Exploring Technology (TXT) encourages inner city teenage Black and Latino males to become catalysts of change in urban communities. Our approach is to use technology as a tool for promoting positive youth development and leadership, and ultimately paving the pathway to higher education and majors and careers in Science, Technology Engineering, Math (STEM).
